Building Blocks Preschool Daycare Center, Inc. Welcomes New Director
I am delighted to welcome Mrs. Emily Hotchkiss, to Building Blocks Preschool Daycare Center, Inc.
Emily holds her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in Family and Community Services with a young child emphasis and an early childhood education cluster.
She also has a wide variety of experience in childcare. After her understudies she was employed at Bright Horizons Family Solutions in Abbott Park, IL, working with preschool children ages three to five. Bright Horizons selected her to participate in a Manger in Training program that provided classroom teachers with the skills to move into management positions within the company. In 2002, she was awarded the Better Together Award for outstanding teamwork with co-workers. In 2003, she was awarded the World At Their Fingertips Award for successfully implementing curriculum. Emily has also had the great accomplishment to be apart of NAEYC National Association for Education of Young Children Accreditation from start to finish.
Emily is coming from the Michigan 4C’s, Oakland County Child Care Council, non-profit program, where she has worked for the past two years. She has acquired customer services skills, gained an greater understanding of what parents look for when searching for child care, increased knowledge of available community resources, and understanding of the local, state, and federal regulations for child care facilities. The connections she has made while employed at the Oakland County Child Care Council will assist in coordinating and implementing in-service training’s for staff and families in our center. She has served on many committees and is active leader in the community to promote Quality Child Care.
Emily Hotchkiss, for one is raring to go. “Organization, leadership, and management are the skills and competencies I feel are needed to effectively administer a childcare center. I posses these skills along with my education, professional experiences, and driven work ethic. Most importantly, I feel the mission of Building Blocks reflects quality childcare and it would be a privilege to work together with people who share the same goals for children, parents, and the community.”
Emily lives in West Bloomfield with her husband Jeff, and fourteen-month old daughter Megan. Megan will be attending our school. We are very excited to have Emily on board. Please welcome her to our family.
Warmest regards,
